Belgium and Romania continue to strengthen a dynamic and expanding economic partnership, with bilateral trade exceeding €5 billion annually. In recent years, Romania has imported goods worth over $3.3 billion from Belgium, while exports to Belgium have surpassed $2 billion, confirming Belgium’s position as a key EU trade partner. This strong commercial exchange is supported by complementary industrial structures, particularly in sectors such as automotive, pharmaceuticals, machinery, electronics, and industrial materials.
At the same time, Belgium remains a significant investor in Romania, ranking among the country’s top 10 foreign investors, with over €2.2 billion in accumulated investments. Belgian companies are actively contributing to Romania’s economic development across strategic sectors including infrastructure, logistics, energy, manufacturing, and services. Romania’s competitive advantages—its strategic EU location, skilled workforce, and access to European funding—continue to create attractive opportunities for Belgian businesses, particularly in areas such as energy transition, smart infrastructure, digitalization, and advanced industrial solutions.

Positioned as a flagship platform for bilateral engagement, Belgian Week will bring together business leaders, investors, policymakers, and industry experts to accelerate trade, investment, and cross-border partnerships between Belgium, Romania, and international stakeholders.
This year’s edition will feature three days of high-level conferences and networking, focusing on sectors that are shaping the future of economic cooperation, including construction and real estate, energy and smart cities, as well as dual-use technologies and defense. The discussions will address key topics such as sustainable urban development, energy transition, industrial resilience, innovation ecosystems, and the increasing strategic importance of dual-use technologies in today’s geopolitical environment.
The program will also include a dedicated Networking Reception for the International Business Community, a series of executive-level panel discussions, and a closing Gala Dinner bringing together approximately 250 high-profile guests from business, diplomacy, and government.
“Belgian Week reflects the strength and growing depth of economic relations between Belgium and Romania. It creates a valuable platform to unlock new investment opportunities and strengthen strategic cooperation in key sectors,” said H.E. Mr. Jean Cornet d’Elzius, the Belgian Ambassador to Romania.
“This year’s edition is about turning dialogue into concrete action. By connecting decision-makers across industries, we aim to accelerate partnerships and support sustainable, long-term economic growth,” added Alain Schodts, Executive Director of BEROCC.
“I think is essential to highlight the level and strategic importance of investments from international business communities, the passion for the country and evolution of the Romanian economy of the leaders of the Belgian companies. We’ve been witnessing the way that Belgian players shaped the market in the last decades and I am very excited to debate and understand what is next directly from founders and managers”, Ionut Oprea – real estate communication expert and moderator.
With over 500 participants expected, Belgian Week 2026 offers a unique opportunity to connect, exchange insights, and contribute to shaping the future of Belgian–Romanian-Moldovan economic cooperation.
